Recent ActivityYancey County Exceptional Children's Program
Yancey County Schools provides special education and related services to all children with disabilities from age 3 to 21. When children are determined eligible for services, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) is developed that states the services to be provided. (Related services necessary to access the curriculum, such as Speech-Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and or Physical Therapy, and Transportation are provided for students that qualify for these services.)
North Carolina Public Schools Exceptional Children's Division provides us with policies for the delivery of special educations services. These procedures are detailed in Policies Governing Programs and Services for Children with Special Needs.
Department Announcements EC Procedural handbook Online in English and SpanishThe EC Procedural Handbook helps parents of children with disabilities understand their legal rights under the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Improvement Act (IDEA) and has accompanying federal regulations. It also includes definitions for many acronyms and additional resources for parents.
